Lourdes Mendoza wins lawsuit for moral damages against Emilio Lozoya

Journalist Lourdes Mendoza Peñaloza has emerged victorious in a lawsuit against former Pemex director Emilio Lozoya Austin for moral damages. The ruling states that Mendoza Peñaloza has proven the moral damage caused by Lozoya Austin, who failed to justify his exceptions and defenses. As a result, he will be required to compensate the journalist for the damage caused.

The resolution held by La Razón mentions that the moral damage directly affected Mendoza Peñaloza’s assets, feelings, affections, beliefs, decorum, honor, reputation, private life, and the consideration that others have. Additionally, events narrated by Lozoya Austin are deemed unproven, and the former federal official will have to pay a sum of 500,000 pesos once the resolution is enforceable.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that the journalist would donate the amount in favor of the Stay Center Transitional for Boys and Girls of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City if Lozoya Austin fails to pay.

The lawsuit stemmed from a claim by Lozoya Austin that he had bought a luxury bag for Mendoza Peñaloza, which she vehemently denied. Mendoza Peñaloza took to social media to express her satisfaction with the judgement, stating that she will not let falsehood or gender violence against her go unchallenged.

With this ruling, Mendoza Peñaloza has not only won the case but also demonstrated that Lozoya Austin is a “vulgar liar.”
