LSK finished in sixth place in last year’s season and were big favorites in the match. Three goals against and zero points was anything but what a packed Åråsen had hoped for in the first game of the year.
Newly promoted KBK is predicted to have a tough season, where the team will have to fight to stay up. The season opener instead showed a Kristiansund team that can be more impactful than expected.
KBK opened the ball when they countered 1-0 in the 13th minute. An unbalanced LSK defense and a misplaced LSK goalkeeper Mads Hedenstad failed to prevent Ruben Alte from hammering in 1-0.
Dan Peter Ulvestad headed in a corner four minutes after the change of sides and made it 2-0, but the home team hit back soon after. Espen Garnås also hit a header after a free kick.
However, hope was only kindled for a few minutes. An unmarked Heine Bruseth was then left alone in the box and knocked in 3-1.
Thomas Lehne Olsen scored 2-3 barely ten minutes before the end, but it was not enough to salvage any points from the match.
