“Simone and I will get married in a small civil ceremony on Saturday, June 1, 2024. On Saturday, October 12, 2024, one day after my 92nd birthday, we will also get the church blessing in St. Stephen’s Cathedral with cathedral priest Toni Faber.” This news reached the “Kleine Zeitung” on Sunday morning, with which builder Richard Lugner was the one who had been floating around for days Rumors finally confirmed. And: “It’s my last marriage,” promised the socialite.
This means that not only the wedding seems to have been fixed, but also the wedding date. However, not everyone is happy about it – on the contrary. The news is causing trouble: Ever since Lugner’s fiancée Simone Reiländer revealed the wedding date in front of the ATV camera, the house blessing has gone very wrong. Because daughter Jacqueline is also planning hers in 2024 Leo Kohlbauer to get married and her father shouldn’t steal the show. And ex-wife Christina even banned Richard from marrying until their daughter was born.
But “Mörtl” remains calm: “I don’t even know Jacky’s wedding date and so I can’t go by it. Maybe Mausi knows more than me.” Incidentally, he puts the responsibility for choosing the wedding date on his fiancée: “It’s an idea from Simone, but a lot still needs to be clarified!” says the 91-year-old. However, he emphasizes that the blessing of his “mouse” is important to him, and that would not be available on June 1st. We’ll see which of the women is in charge in the end – the former or the future.

Lugner had recently been traveling with a variety of companions, all of whom were given different pet names for animals. “But I always aimed for a long-term relationship,” said the builder.
And Lugner also knows a lot about weddings: he married Christine Gmeiner for the first time in 1961. “She was my childhood sweetheart,” said the builder. The couple separated after 17 years. In 1979 he married again. But this connection only lasted four years. “Cornelia (Hahn, note) was taken away from me by the then OPEC Secretary General,” said Lugner.
Tragic death
Marriage number three followed in 1984 with Susanne Dietrich. The relationship ended tragically: in 1984, shortly after the divorce, Dietrich fell into a coma after cosmetic surgery and died. Christina “Mausi” Lugner, probably the builder’s best-known partner, followed. The couple married in 1991 and hit the society stage together for years. But this marriage also ended in 2007.
On September 13, 2014, Lugner married German playmate Cathy Schmitz at a fifth wedding staged as a media spectacle in Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace. This was over again after just two years. “That was a flop. Apart from Simone, I only loved Christine and Christina,” said the builder.
