Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan openly expressed support for presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
He said that one reason was that Prabowo-Gibran promoted sustainability. He stated that in relation to downstreaming, continuity is needed, not change.

As is known, downstreaming is a flagship program of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s government.
“I, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, choose Prabowo. I think he is the best choice for president at the moment. That will bring progress to Indonesia and bring sustainability to Indonesia,” he said via Instagram @luhut.pandjaitan, quoted on Sunday (4/2/2024).
Luhut admitted that he had known Prabowo for approximately 40 years. He sees Prabowo as a type of hard worker, smart, who really loves the Republic of Indonesia, and has proven success in the past. Therefore, he considers Prabowo to be the right leader to take Indonesia forward.
Luhut also said that Prabowo was a presidential candidate who responded very positively to the downstream program. He said he offered this program to all presidential candidates, but the other two presidential candidates did not respond as well as Prabowo.
The Coordinating Minister, who was once a red beret, said that Prabowo and his team came directly to discuss downstreaming.
“He came to us and he sent his team to us and talked to our team and he agreed and this must be done. He said this must be done, it must be continued. Because this is a very good program,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, according to Luhut, President Jokowi’s son, Gibran represents young people who are the capital of this country to achieve a Golden Indonesia by 2045.
“The representation of young people in Mas Gibran has strengthened me to choose this pair on February 14 2024 as the continuation of the leadership baton that will lead this country towards the great vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045,” said Luhut.
