A major police operation took place late Thursday evening following a report of a threatening situation at Bjørkelangen in Romerike, reports VG.
At 00.50, the East police district states that they have arrested a person they believe to be the perpetrator.
– The police have arrested a person at an address in Bjørkelangen. Presumably the perpetrator from earlier this evening, East police district writes on X.
The man was arrested without injury and had a firearm at the time of arrest.
Earlier, operations manager Simen Walle told Dagbladet that they had received reports that the man has a hand-held firearm.
– We received the first notification about this at around 22.10. Afterwards, we also received a number of messages about others who have seen this weapon and felt it terrifying.
The police asked people to stay indoors because of the ongoing operation and because the perpetrator was at large. The police also stated that they had an idea about who the perpetrator was.
According to the police, the incident started at a fast food restaurant in the area.
