Malaysian National Team suffered a 0-2 defeat to Oman in the match 2026 World Cup Qualification at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Tuesday (26/3).

Oman’s first goal was scored by Omar Al Maliki. Al Maliki found the back of Syihan Hazmi’s goal and gave Oman a 1-0 lead.

Oman then doubled their lead in injury time through Mohammed Al Ghafri. This goal was produced through the collaboration of short passes from Oman players in the Malaysian penalty box area.

The Malaysian defenders don’t seem to be pressing well. The short passes ended sweetly after a ball from Abdullah Fawaz was well forwarded by Al Ghafri.

This defeat means that Malaysia has now dropped to third place in Group D. Malaysia still has six points, behind Kyrgyzstan and Oman, who both have nine points.

These conditions meant that Malaysia had to fight hard in the last two matches in June. Malaysia will duel against Kyrgyzstan at the opponent’s headquarters and the final match will host Taiwan in Kuala Lumpur.

The duel against Kyrgyzstan will be a crucial match. Malaysia must win over Kyrgyzstan to open up the opportunity to qualify for the third round of Asian Cup Qualification. If Malaysia loses, their chances of going to the third round will be closed.
