Fighting for the Spanish title, the Girona takes the field at 3:30 pm this Wednesday (24) to keep the doublet’s dream alive: face the Mallorcain the quarterfinals of King’s Cup. The clash will be broadcast on ESPN 4 and Star+.
Throughout the campaign, Mallorca eliminated Boiro (4-0), Valle de Egües (3-0), Burgos (3-0) and Tenerife (1-0), while Girona passed San Roque (2-1) , Orihuela (5 to 2), Elche (2 to 0) and Rayo Vallecano (3 to 1).
The competition also includes Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona, at 5:30 pm this Wednesday (24), and Atlético de Madrid and Seviila, at 5 pm this Thursday (25). This Tuesday (23), Real Sociedad beat Celta de Vigo 2-1. The semi-finals will be defined by draw.
Girona leads the Spanish Championship with 52 points, one more than Real Madrid, who have one game in hand. Mallorca is 15th, with 20 points. The relegation zone has Cádiz, with 15, Granada, with 11, and Almería, with six.
