This was confirmed to RCN Radio by Salvatore Mancuso’s lawyer, Nelson Menjura. He said that the former paramilitary chief will meet with other former members of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) to find nearly 400 mass graves that would be in the border area with Venezuela.
Why is it key? Last year, Mancuso said in a JEP hearing that the AUC dumped the bodies of about 200 people on the Venezuelan side of the border. Following these statements, the Foreign Ministries of Colombia and Venezuela announced joint work to find those missing from paramilitarism on the border.
The freedom of Mancuso. Last week the Justice and Peace Chamber of the Superior Court of Bogotá lifted the 57 arrest warrants against the former paramilitary leader. These orders will be replaced by new ones that are not custodial.
Finally, the release ticket was issued last Friday, so it is expected that Mancuso will be released from prison in the coming days.
Given: Today Otty Patiño, high peace commissioner, said that the government has yet to regulate the figure of Mancuso’s peace manager.
I recommend this episode of Huevos Revueltos about Mancuso’s truths before the JEP:
