Venezuelan opposition party Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) faced obstacles in replacing the candidacy of Manuel Rosales with Edmundo González Urrutia, who was recently confirmed as the presidential candidate by the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD). UNT representative Angelo Palmeri expressed frustration in a video, stating that they were unable to join the MUD through the automated application system despite several attempts. After Rosales resigned as a candidate to support González Urrutia, UNT emphasized its commitment to change in Venezuela by advancing towards supporting the new candidate. The National Electoral Council (CNE) announced a 72-hour extension for replacing candidates in the presidential elections, following requests from various political organizations. The PUD previously faced challenges in nominating Corina Yoris due to obstacles set by President Nicolás Maduro. The PUD reported being denied access to the CNE’s application system throughout the candidate nomination process.
