Marco Schällibaum is the new coach of the Grasshoppers. Yverdon’s former mentor was named head of the Zurich club the day after the dismissal of Bruno Berner.
After his very unexpected dismissal to Yverdon last fall, Marco Schällibaum returns to Grasshoppers, which he will manage for the first time. “With his experience, his personality and his influence, Marco Schällibaum will put the team back on the right track,” says sporting director Stephan Schwarz. “I am convinced that the team will hold its own.”
The new leaders of the Grasshoppers have made the wise choice with the commitment of a child of the club. As a player, Schällibaum won three titles and a Swiss Cup with the Grasshoppers. At 62, he can believe that this return to his roots will somehow allow him to come full circle. “We are facing an immense challenge,” recalls the new strong man of the Grasshoppers.
