María Corina Machado denounced a “brutal repression” by the Maduro regime against his campaign command

María Corina Machado has issued a strong warning to the Nicolás Maduro regime, stating that she will not back down from her candidacy for the presidency of Venezuela despite the brutal repression being carried out against her campaign team.

The former deputy denounced the recent arrest of the head of her party, Henry Alviárez, and the political secretary, Dignora Hernandez, as part of the regime’s efforts to hinder the opposition movement. Machado called on the international community and Venezuelan citizens to take concrete actions against the repression and human rights violations being committed by the regime.

She emphasized the need for unity and firmness in the face of these challenges, stating that the struggle in Venezuela transcends politics and becomes a fight for fundamental values and the integrity of the nation. Machado expressed confidence that the regime’s repressive actions only reveal its weakness and imminent defeat against the opposition movement.

The Vente Venezuela party condemned the arrests of Alviarez and Hernandez, labeling them as victims of a “kidnapping” by the Maduro regime. The party’s Human Rights Committee urged the international community to intervene and demanded the immediate release of those detained.

In addition to Alviarez and Hernandez, seven other members of Vente Venezuela have been detained, raising concerns about the regime’s efforts to dismantle the opposition leadership. The Prosecutor’s Office has also issued arrest requests for several individuals close to Machado, including her communications chief and campaign manager.

The recent wave of arrests comes amid reports from the UN Independent International Mission for Venezuela highlighting the regime’s reactivation of violent repression against the opposition. The Mission warned of serious difficulties in ensuring transparent and free presidential elections in the country.

Despite these challenges, Machado remains resolute in her commitment to leading Venezuela towards change and democracy. She called on Venezuelans to stay united and determined in the face of adversity, signaling that the fight for a better future for the nation continues unabated.
