Madura United managed to beat Persita Tangerang 3-2 in Week 28 of League 1 at the Gelora Bangkalan Stadium, Wednesday (6/3) afternoon WIB.

This result makes Madura United continue to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the championship series. Laskar Sapeh Kerab, who is in fifth position, now has the same collection of 45 points as Bali United, who is perched in fourth place in the League 1 standings.

Persita opened the lead 1-0 in the 18th minute through Esal Sahrul. The young Persita player mercilessly fired a hard shot from close range after receiving a header from Ramiro Fergonzi in the penalty box.

Madura United only needed three minutes to equalize at 1-1. Francisco Rivera’s neat finish after escaping the offside trap managed to shake Persita’s goal.

In the 24th minute, Madura United was even able to turn things around to take a 2-1 lead over Persita. Christian Rontini’s header, which attempted to prevent Rivera’s corner kick, went into his own net.

Malik Risaldi had the opportunity to increase the lead to 3-1 for Madura United. Unfortunately, Malik’s low shot towards the goal was still thwarted by Kartika Ajie using his feet.

Persita then managed to equalize the score at 2-2 in first half injury time. The visitors’ second goal was scored by Fergonzi who did not waste the opportunity he got.

Persita missed the opportunity to regain the lead in this match at the start of the second half. Two consecutive opportunities were obtained by Bae Sin Yong who stepped up to help attack but failed to beat Lucas Frigeri.
