The sculptural earrings contain 91 carats of tourmalines and diamonds, and were crafted in fair-mined 18-karat gold. “When I saw them, I almost died,” Evangelista says of the earrings.

Although he has not attended a Met since the edition China: Through the Looking Glass 2015, Evangelista has shined on the carpet 11 times over the years. The first time was in 1993, in Diana Vreeland: Immoderate Style, wearing an ankle-length black dress with woven straps by Karl Lagerfeld for Chloé, which came from her own closet. “I did the campaigns and chose a lot of dresses after the show, and they gave them to me,” Evangelista remembers. “So this one came out of my closet. So it was a different experience. I dressed my way.”
Since then, the chameleonic model has donned very diverse looks for fashion’s big night. In the edition Haute Couture 1995, she wore a 1980s black lace Chanel strapless dress and a pearl necklace, while for Punk: Chaos to Couture 2013, she opted for a gray cloud of Marchesa tulle. In his last appearance in 2015, Evangelista got ahead of the trend flirtatious in a red Moschino dress, adorned on the shoulder with a huge black bow.
