Michael J. Fox received a standing ovation at the BAFTA ceremony on Sunday February 18 in London. The “Back to the Future” star arrived on stage in a wheelchair but insisted on standing to present the award for best film.
“It’s not for nothing that they say that movies are magical, because they can change your day. They can change your outlook, and sometimes even your life,” said the actor, who is 62 and has been battling Parkinson’s disease since 1991.
Michael J Fox attended the BAFTAs with his wife, Tracy Pollan.
In an interview with “Town & Country” magazine carried out in 2023, he confided what his approach to aging with this progressive disease was. “One day I will run out of gas. One day I’ll say to myself, “That’s not going to happen. I’m not going out today.” If that happens, I will allow myself to do so.”
