TUNIS. More than twenty victims of a shipwreck occurred off the Tunisian coast while trying to cross the Mediterranean towards Italy. He reports it to InfoMigrants a source from the humanitarian organization of the Tunisian Red Crescent: “The boat was transporting more than 90 migrants from Libya to Europe,” said Mongi Slim, a Red Crescent official. The boat “had left the port of Zuara, west of Tripoli, not far from the Tunisian border”.

The survivors – 37 Eritreans, 32 Sudanese and one Egyptian, all between the ages of 15 and 40 – were found near the Miskar oil rig, 67 kilometers off the Tunisian coast and welcomed by the Red Crescent and the International Organization for migration (IOM) in the port of Zarzis, in southern Tunisia.

So far only two bodies have been recovered. The Navy also rescued 39 migrants 50 kilometers off the Tunisian coast, who left Sfax between Sunday and Monday.
