Milan will go through a month without knowing what it means to win. This Sunday, the Rossoneri team came close to the end of their fast, but ended 3-3 with Genoa, at the San Siro stadium, in Milan, in the 35th round of the Italian Championship. Florenzi, Gabbia and Giroud scored for the hosts. Retegui, Ekuban and Thiaw (own goal) scored for the visitors.
The last time Milan came away with three points was on April 6 against Lecce. To make matters worse, in that period without victories, they were eliminated by Roma from the Europa League, lost to their biggest rival Inter and even saw Inter win the national title in advance. The draw made the red and black team reach 71 points. Genoa went at 42.
Milan took to the field with practically no intention at all in the Italian Championship, after all they are already guaranteed in the 24/25 Champions League and are basically fighting for second place in the Italian Championship.
Genoa, in turn, is in the middle of the table and also has no chance of a place in a European tournament or even of being relegated.
With Milan lacking much desire, Genoa didn’t take long to open the scoring. In the 4th minute, English defender Tomori brought down Italian Vogliacco inside the box. Retegui took a shot into the right corner and opened the scoring.
Even with the goal, Milan appeared drowsy and moved slowly. Even so, the team pressed mainly in the first half of the stage, making the ball reach Pulisic and Rafael Leão much more. Genoa were not ashamed to wait in the defense field.
Milan managed to equalize in the 45th minute. Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze made a good move on the right side and crossed for Italian Florenzi, free inside the small area, to head home.
But for those who thought the goal would shock Milan in the second half, it turned out badly. After just 3 minutes, Ghanaian Ekuban put Genoa ahead again.
The hosts started to wake up after twenty minutes and missed an incredible chance with French striker Giroud, who received it alone, in front of Martínez, but when trying to cover the goalkeeper, he sent the ball out.
But Giroud participated in the equalizing goal with support, literally. In a corner kick from the left, Gabbia supported the Frenchman to rise high and equalize, with a header, in the 27th minute.
Two minutes later it was Giroud’s turn to redeem himself by hitting a volley from inside the box and scoring Milan’s winning goal.
Genoa equalized at 42 when defender Tomori tried to clear the ball from the small area, but hit his teammate Thiaw, who scored against it.
Milan returns to the field on Saturday, in Milan, against Cagliari. Genoa faces Sassuolo at home. There are three rounds left until the end of the Italian season.

Cagliari counted on a right-footed goal from former Palmeiras defender, Colombian Yerry Mina, to draw at home with Lecce. The host team even had a goal disallowed by VAR when the duel was 0-0. It was also thanks to the electronic referee that Cagliari had a player (Gaetano) sent off in the 44th minute of the first half.
Earlier this Sunday, Verona made it 2-1 at Fiorentina with goals from Lazovic (from a penalty) and Noslin. Castrovilli did it for the visitors. Empoli and Frosinone did not come from scratch.
