The victory means that Molde takes a good starting point before the return match in Belgium. Fredrik Gulbrandsen became the big hero a minute before the end.
Ronny Deila, for his part, had to see his Club Brugge lose the match in overtime.

Fredrik Gulbrandsen became the big hero when he scored the 2-1 goal just before the end. The forward was ice-cold when he sprinted from the Bruges defense and put the ball straight into the goal.
– Of course it’s good to get an extra goal, says Gulbrandsen to Viaplay.

Club Brugge equalized earlier in the half. Maxim De Cuyper was safe from the penalty spot. It was a cross from Philip Zinckernagel that went into the arm of Linnes that caused the penalty. Reactions poured in from the Molde players, but the decision was based on a VAR check.
Molde took the lead just before the break with substitute Halldor Stenevik. Stenevik was ice cold after a lovely attack from the hosts.

Neither Antonio Nusa (injury) nor Hugo Vetlesen (illness) was in the visitors’ squad for the match.
– Set off fireworks
There must also have been drama before the start of the match, but for non-sporting reasons.
A person is said to have set off fireworks in a crowd in connection with the match at Aker Stadium. The person is reported, the police report. Two others are said to have also been deprived of fireworks.
Thursday’s match is the first of two round of 16 games between the teams.
