– If we include the forecast for tonight’s match between YMCA and HamKam, we are up to an audience figure for the Eliteserien and the OBOS league of just under 93,000. We are actually going all the way back to 2008 to find a higher figure for the first round of games in our two top leagues, says Pål Breen, commercial manager at Norwegian Top Football.
With 2,900 tickets sold, the YMCA is set to set an audience record for the club. Fredrikstad, for its part, marks the promotion with a growth of a whopping 123% compared to last year’s audience average.
-Moving up a division usually marks a marked shift in audience development as well. We saw that last year with, for example, Brann and Moss, and we see it this year with clubs such as Fredrikstad and YMCA. The fact that clubs like Fredrikstad deliver good audience figures will naturally also contribute to the number of ticket buyers in the Eliteserien remaining stable and perhaps even delivering further growth into 2024, Breen elaborates.
