Culture and entertainment: Wallen is setting the course for Europe with his “One Night at A Time” tour, which sold over 2.4 million tickets domestically last year – earning it the country tour of the year by Pollstar and Billboard.
According to this, this will be Morgan Wallen’s first visit to Norway Live Nation Norway. It will take place in Oslo Spektrum on 30 August this year.
He has won eleven Billboard Music Awards and, with his cross-genre country style, has been called “one of the biggest stars in pop” by the New York Times. He recently released a song together with Post Malone, called “I Had Some Help”, which is already at the top of Norwegian Spotify.
The song “Last Night” has been streamed 1.5 billion times globally and was the most streamed in the US on both Apple Music and Spotify and is the longest-running solo song at No. 1 in Hot 100 history – 16 weeks in total.
Not bad for an artist who in 2021 was almost cancelled. The reason was that he used the “n-word” after a humid night – or rather 72 hours – on the town in Nashville. A neighbor recorded it on video – and sold it to the celebrity website TMZ.
The radio stations stopped playing him, and organizers did not want to let his songs be nominated for awards.
Wallen apologized, said he had “learned how words can really hurt” and appeared in meetings with leaders of various organizations for African-Americans, who, according to an Instagram post, offered him a chance “to learn and grow,” NTB wrote then.
Now a trial awaits on 15 August, after a hearing at the beginning of May where he himself was not present, reports Billboardwhich writes that Wallen is expected to be present at the August trial date.
– I am not proud of my behavior and I take responsibility. I have the utmost respect for the police officers who work every day to keep us all safe. As far as my tour is concerned, there will be no change,” Wallen said in a statement in April.
The record “One Thing At a Time” came out last year and is his third studio album. It topped the all-genre album chart for 19 consecutive weeks and was the most streamed album last year on Spotify, according to the press release.
It made headlines worldwide, and Wallen’s label suspended him from his contract, while his music was removed from dozens of high-profile playlists on Apple Music and Spotify.
But as recently as April, there was more trouble for Morgan Wallen when he threw a chair from the sixth floor of a bar in Nashville. It landed right next to two policemen. This led to prosecution for gross negligence and disorderly conduct.
