The operation of the NATO intelligence office in Moscow will be closed in retaliation for the Alliance’s decision to revoke the accreditation of eight Russian mission officials to the Alliance. This was announced by Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov, quoted by Tass. «The operation of the NATO information office in Moscow, created at the embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, will be closed. If NATO has urgent questions, it can contact our ambassador to Belgium, ”Lavrov said. At the same time, Moscow will suspend its mission to NATO.
“Following some measures adopted by NATO – explained the minister -, there are no longer the basic conditions for joint work”. Therefore “we will suspend the work of our official mission, including the work of our military representation from 1 November, even if it may take a few more days”. Moscow will also close the NATO diplomatic liaison mission in the Federation indefinitely. “His employees – he continued – have their accreditation revoked from November 1”. Russia will also suspend the activities of the information office of the Atlantic Alliance in Moscow, set up at the Belgian embassy. “If NATO has urgent questions – concludes Lavrov -, it will be able to contact our ambassador to Belgium on these issues”.
