North Korean leader Kim Jong Un joined the training of troops on a new model of tank and drove one himself. Pyongyang state media reported this. It is the third time in 11 days that Kim has participated in military drills, in what is seen as an apparent response to US-South Korea drills, which he sees as dress rehearsals for an invasion. This is a less provocative option than missile tests, which were widely expected as North Korea has ramped up its tests since 2022.
