Once Caldas started the home runs of the Betplay 2024-I League in an unbeatable way. The Manizale team beat La Equidad 2-0 at the Palogrande stadium and is the leader of group B due to goal difference. The goals were from Jhon Araújo and Dayro Moreno.
In the first half, Once Caldas had its first clear chance in a play with two chances. First, Billy Arce sent a cross that closed and forced Washington Ortega to take the ball. Then, the goalkeeper’s rebound was left to Dayro and there Ortega saved the option.
Ten minutes later, Once Caldas found themselves opening the scoring. Juan Pablo Patiño won on the left wing and there he sent a cross into the area where he met Jhon Araújo who anticipated goalkeeper Ortega and sent it to save at the near post.
Towards the 28th minute, Equidad had its first approach in a cross from the right that Kevin Viveros could not connect with. Already around the 45th minute, the scorers had their first chance on goal with Élan Ricardo who took a left footed shot into the hands of James Aguirre.
Already in the second half, Equidad had its clearest chance with Andrés Correa who went to the area and on the edge of it he finished with his left foot into the corner, but Aguirre took a great hand to send the ball to the last line.
Four minutes later, the Bogota team created danger again with Amaury Torralvo who tried from mid-range and almost placed it in the corner of Blanco Blanco’s goal.

In the 82nd minute, the home team found themselves at 2-0. Billy Arce received a foul inside the area and there Dayro Moreno made the charge from twelve steps to break his scoring drought since the ’17’ had not scored since he broke the record for FPC’s top scorer on March 16.
