John Cena showed up to the Oscars naked with nothing but a wrap to cover his modesty.
The actor didn’t wear a single item of clothing on stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles this Sunday evening, when he was supposed to present the award for best costumes – which went to “Poor Things” – as part of a skit with host Jimmy Kimmel, who referenced one of the most shocking moments of the Academy Awards, when a man rushed the stage in 1974.
Jimmy asked, “Can you imagine a naked man walking on stage today? That would be crazy, right?”
John, shirtless, then looked up, but insisted he didn’t feel well enough to go out.
He told the host: “I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to do this sketch. I don’t feel comfortable with it. It’s a classy event, you know, you should feel ashamed for having suggested a joke in such poor taste.”
The host argued that the skit was “meant to be funny,” to which John retorted, “The male body is no joke.”
The wrestler ended up going on stage with a large envelope covering his private parts to the laughter of the audience. As he couldn’t move the envelope to open it, there was a quick cut and he reappeared in a golden toga.
