With the victory, Palmeiras went to 10 points and isolated themselves at the top of Group B in Paulistão; Red Bull Bragantino remained with 4 points in Group C, but is still leader of the group due to the poor performance of Corinthians, Mirassol and Inter de Limeira.
Abel Ferreira’s team returns to the field on Sunday (4), at 4pm (Brasília time), against São Paulo in the Super Cup. On the same day, but at 11am, Bragantino visits Santo André, for Paulistão, at the Bruno José Daniel stadium.
Abel selects reserves, but maintains a scheme with three defenders
Even without their starters, Palmeiras had a line of three defenders in defense: Naves, Luan and Vanderlan. Original left-back, Vanderlan repeated Marcos Rocha’s role as third defender, and gave freedom to Caio Paulista to advance down the left wing.
Both teams had chances to open the scoring in the first half, but failed to make the last pass at the time of completion. The Bragança team made a change in the 29th minute of the first half: Pedro Caixinha removed defender Lucas Cunha and brought in midfielder Jadsom — with that Bragantino gained midfield and managed to finish the initial stage better in the game.
Second half of a lot of rush, but little inspiration
Bragantino and Palmeiras looked for the goal at all times, but there were few interventions from the goalkeepers in the game. There was a lack of aim.
