BOGOTÁ.- Colombian President Gustavo Petro has called for the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an effort to halt Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. Petro made the statement on social media, asserting that Netanyahu will not stop the genocide without international intervention.
Petro also emphasized that the United Nations Security Council should consider deploying a peacekeeping force in Gaza. This comes in response to Netanyahu’s insistence on an incursion into Rafah, a city in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, despite lacking support from the United States.
Following Israel’s military operation in Rafah, the United States has announced the partial suspension of arms shipments to Israel. The Israeli Army entered the Rafah crossing with tanks, seizing control of the area in what Israel claims is a selective operation. In response, the US has halted a shipment of ammunition to Israel out of concern for its potential use in the densely populated Palestinian city.
The situation continues to escalate, with international leaders calling for action to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza. #GazaCrisis #Colombia #Israel #InternationalLaw
