OSLO DISTRICT COURT (Nettavisen): On Monday morning, the multi-billionaire Petter Stordalen was in Oslo District Court, in connection with the State demanding several hundred million in unpaid taxes.
The background is that Petter Stordalen bought the holding company Strawberry Fields in 2013.
Since then and until 2021, Stordalen has withdrawn over DKK 800 million in tax-free dividends from the company, writes E24.
– Petter’s subjective motive
In 2022, the Tax Appeal Board said that these should not be tax-free withdrawals. They therefore demand that Stordalen repay over 200 million tax kroner.
Stordalen has taken this decision to court, and on Monday the proceedings of the case began, for which a full week has been set aside in the Oslo district court.
The court proceedings started on 09
– It is Petter Stordalen’s subjective motive that the court must decide on, emphasizes Stordalen’s lawyer, Kaare Andreas Shetelig in his introduction
Hoping for a change
Nettavisen faces Stordalen in the Oslo district court. He does not want to comment on the case and refers to his lawyer Shetelig.
– We hope to get the Tax Appeals Board’s decision overturned, he says to Nettavisen, and adds:
– Here a purchase of shares has been made that is commercially motivated. It has been a rule that has been in place for almost 70 years which the state wants to see through. So what Petter Stordalen has done is in accordance with the rules, says Shetelig firmly.
