Disaster Reduction Commission spokesperson Tim Barr said that according to the statistics of the Disaster Reduction Commission, “Rey” caused more than 200 million Philippine pesos, or approximately 28 million yuan, in infrastructure losses. The agricultural losses exceeded 100 million pesos, or about 14 million yuan.

According to the Disaster Reduction Committee, the typhoon has caused at least 227 cities and towns in the Philippines to experience power outages and 136 cities and towns have lost communications. After intensive repairs, the power supply in 21 cities and towns has been restored, and the communication in 106 cities and towns has been restored.

In addition, on Siargao Island, which was hit hard by Typhoon Rey, the Philippine Coast Guard assisted 29 foreign tourists to evacuate safely.

A spokesperson for the Disaster Reduction Committee said that the death toll caused by Typhoon Rey is 58 people, with 199 injured and 18 missing. More than 990,000 people were affected and more than 440,000 were left homeless. This set of data is different from the previous Philippine police report that “208 people have died” statistics, but the Disaster Reduction Committee said it can ensure that the data released by it has been finalized.
