AC Milan removed AS Roma in the Europa League quarterfinals. Seeing the performance over the two legs, Milan coach Stefano Pioli admits Roma deserved to go through.

From Roma vs Milan in the second leg of the quarterfinals Europa League held at the Olimpico Stadium, Friday (19/4/2024) early morning WIB. The Rossoneri lost 1-2 in this match.

After losing 0-1 in the first leg, Milan was even more squeezed after Roma scored two goals through Gianluca Mancini and Paulo Dybala. Milan got a breath of fresh air after Roma had to play with 10 men from the 31st minute following a red card for Zeki Celik.

However, Milan still had difficulty creating opportunities. The visitors only scored a goal in the 86th minute through Matteo Gabbia’s header.

“We leave this tournament with regret. Roma had more quality and determination over the two legs, so they deserved to qualify,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“We clearly lacked quality, because apart from not creating clean opportunities, we also found several situations in the penalty box that we could have exploited more.”

“We should have created more considering the fact that they were down to 10 men, but we didn’t have the quality or determination to turn things around after going 2-0 down.”

“We didn’t have the right intensity, we should have moved the ball faster, not rushed, but we weren’t right on the last ball and didn’t have the quality to finish off the chances we created,” he added.
