Within five minutes, Sandra Borch understood that she had to resign as minister. But first she had to get hold of the prime minister.

On 19 January this year, E24 asked the Ministry of Education about textual similarities in Sandra Borch’s master’s thesis from 2014. A few hours later, Borch stood on the podium and resigned from the post.

In this extra edition of the podcast Stop the world she tells about the dramatic day, about the talks with party leader Trygve Slagsvold Vedum and the attempt to get hold of Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

And about how it feels to go to the store in the days afterwards.

Was she thinking about her master’s thesis when she was “vetted” by the prime minister’s office before becoming a minister? Or when she was appointed Minister of Research and Higher Education?

And even though Borch says she has never deliberately cheated, can it still be called cheating?

Stop the world is a podcast from E24 and Podme.

In Stopp verden, society editor Torbjørn Røe Isaksen meets a guest every week to talk about a topic – over a good glass of drink.
The conversations are about the big questions and the long lines, about how our society has developed and how we should maneuver going forward.
