Works begin in the first half of the year and include docks with controlled temperatures

Multilog, one of the largest integrated logistics operators in the country, announced this week the construction of a new dry port in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), intended to leverage cargo movements on the triple border between Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. Expected to start in the first half of the year, the logistics terminal will receive investments of R$500 million in two phases, according to the contract signed with the RFB (Brazilian Federal Revenue) in December last year.

The work will be installed on the banks of the BR-277 highway, and should generate more than 3 thousand direct and indirect jobs. The terminal will have the capacity to transport up to 2,000 trucks per day in 15 years. “We are very pleased with the construction of the future Porto Seco, which will bring a new reality for cargo transport and foreign trade in the region”, says Djalma Vilela, president of Multilog. “Through a broader, more robust and better located infrastructure, we will improve and expand our operations.”

Regarding the storage area, there are 4.2 thousand square meters of closed covered area, including more than 600 m² of cold room, with three exclusive docks for storing products that require controlled temperatures. The structure will feature modern equipment, including high-precision scales, in addition to the scanner.

In security suits, advanced cameras will be installed for internal and external surveillance. There will be four vehicle entry gates and two exit gates, with one entry and exit for special loads with excess height and width. The access points will have a fully automatic vehicle weighing and identification system.

There will also be an area of 1,900 m² for drivers, divided into seven distinct spaces, six of which are internal and one external, located in the access pocket. The spaces will have bathrooms and areas for rest and stay.

Strategic location

The total land area of the new development, measuring 550 thousand m², is located outside the urban area of the city and with easy access to the eastern perimeter, which will have a direct connection to the new integration bridge, a road under construction that ends at BR-277, whose works must be completed in synchronization with that of the bonded unit.

The location of the new Dry Port of Foz do Iguaçu was designed to direct the large circulation of trucks and the flow of cargo outside the urban area, eliminating the congestion that currently forms on the city’s main avenues. “The location of the land will facilitate the circulation of trucks that will operate in the new dry port, bringing improvements to truck drivers and the entire population of the city”, explains the president of Multilog.

Foz do Iguaçu currently has a Dry Port, also operated by Multilog since 2016 and which is the largest logistics terminal of its type in Latin America, in terms of land cargo movements. Installed in the urban perimeter, in 2022, it handled more than US$6.5 billion in cargo transported by 201,200 trucks, according to the RFB — movements that will be boosted, from 2025, with the new infrastructure.
