Prevent Fraud, Check Out How to Monitor Elections Online

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

2024 Election officially held today, Wednesday (14/2). The public can also monitor the vote count for the 2024 election in several ways sitestarting from Election Guard to Election Guard.

This election has a tiered level of counting or recapitulation of votes, starting from voting at the polling station (TPS) level. The results will be recorded in the C1 model form.

The ballot box and its contents, as well as administrative documents, were handed over to the District Election Committee (PPK). At this level, calculations continue to the sub-district level.

Similar recapitulations are then carried out at the district/city level, at the provincial level by the provincial KPU, and finally at the national level by the KPU. The results are determined as a result of the recapitulation of national votes.

Efforts to control votes from the polling station level are important. This is so that the public can help monitor potential election fraud that occurs.

The method is quite easy, just use a certain site to upload the results at each polling station, including the following:

Monitoring the Election

Referring to the official page, KawalPemilu has a mission “to enable all levels of society to oversee the implementation and calculation of election results at every polling station throughout Indonesia through easy and reliable technology.”

Everyone can take photos of the results of the presidential election (pilpres) from the polling place (TPS) or the C-PPWP form containing the final results of each candidate pair.

Then, the photo can be uploaded to the kawalpemilu.org site after logging in. The uploader also needs to attach the vote count results.

KawalPemilu will later review the uploaded photos, vote results and polling station locations.

“We want KawalPemilu to be a place to match data from TPS to national level tabulations. The more people who upload photos from the TPS, the greater the transparency at the TPS,” wrote KawalPemilu.

Protect the Election

Another site that invites public participation in guarding the 2024 elections is Jaga Pemilu. Like KawalPemilu, everyone can also upload the C-Results form for vote counting after previously registering to become a volunteer on the jagapemilu.com site.

“Data from volunteers who have been verified will be accumulated and displayed to the public,” wrote Jaga Pemilu in the site.

Apart from that, this platform also provides a reporting channel for suspected election violations. Everyone can make reports, starting from violations of campaign content, campaign methods, to alleged provocations.

“Document and report alleged violations in the election process. For example, alleged violations in campaign content, campaign methods/processes, alleged provocations, alleged dawn attacks, and so on. Reports from volunteers that have been verified by the Election Guard will be displayed publicly,” they wrote .

Apart from these two sites, there is another platform that the public can use to help oversee the election, called Warga Jaga Suara. Slightly different, this platform uses an application format on Android phones.
