Law enforcement officers arrested over 3,500 people who took part in various demonstrations against the war in Ukraine today in Russia. This was announced by the spokeswoman for the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk, stressing that the demonstrations were not authorized. “In the city of Moscow, about 2,500 people took part in an unauthorized action, 1,700 were detained. In the city of St. Petersburg, the number of participants was about 1,500, 750 of whom were detained. In other regions, a total of 1,200 people took part in unauthorized events, 1,061 were detained, ”the spokesperson said. According to the NGO Ovd-Info, which monitors the protests in Russia, today in the Federation it took place in over 49 cities against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Many chanted slogans such as “no to war” or “be ashamed”, according to videos circulated widely on social networks.
