PSV Eindhoven Wins Eredivisie, 6 Year Wait Ends

Eindhoven, Beritasatu.com – The PSV Eindhoven club ended their six-year wait to secure their 25th Eredivisie (Dutch League) title on Sunday (5/5/2024). This result was achieved after PSV won 4-2 over Sparta Rotterdam at the Philips Stadium.

Before the match PSV only needed one point to secure the title. The proud club of Eindhoven City was left behind at the start, but was able to recover to face mid-table team Sparta Rotterdam.

In the 2023/2024 season, PSV appeared strong with only one defeat in 32 matches.

PSV has now collected 87 points from 32 matches, 12 points ahead of second place Feyenoord (75), and 23 points from third place AZ Alkmaar.

Facing the visiting club from the city of Rotterdam, PSV fell behind because of Metinho’s goal. However, an own goal from Said Bakari and a second goal from Johan Bakayoko made the situation turn around for PSV.

When Olivier Boscagli put the ball into his own net, it was 2-2 and there was tension in Eindhoven. However, Boscagli was able to repay his mistake with a superb volley from a free kick on the right side of the field. PSV achieved maximum points after Jordan Teze added the fourth goal.

“We scored the most goals, conceded the fewest and created the most chances. We have shown that we are the best in the Eredivisie, very simply,” PSV right-back Teze told Dutch TV station NOS.

“Six years ago I watched (from the stands) like everyone else. I hope one day I can experience a moment like that myself,” he said.

This was the first league title for coach Peter Bosz in style, as PSV was able to win 28 wins in 32 matches so far.
