Bankruptcy proceedings have been opened against high-wire artist Freddy Nock, who was found dead in his apartment in February. The “Official Gazette of the Canton of Aargau” has a preliminary bankruptcy notice published. This shows that the surviving relatives have apparently refused the inheritance because they do not want to take on Nock’s debts.

Finally, Nock is said to have been dependent on social assistance, which he accepted only reluctantly, as the “Aargauer Zeitung” writes. Nock also paid back some of the contributions. He wanted to show that he could make ends meet himself.

In his distinguished career as a high-wire artist, Nock set over thirty high-wire records, astonishing the world and thus fulfilling his wish to inspire an audience of millions as an artist.

Broken by the events

However, the last few years have been turbulent for him. Nock was arrested after a complaint from his wife. He was convicted in the first instance in 2019 of attempted intentional bodily harm. In 2020 he was acquitted in the second instance.

The accusations, the court proceedings, three stays in custody, but above all the previous convictions in the media deprived her father of his livelihood. Engagements that had been arranged long in advance were canceled and new ones were no longer possible.

At the memorial service in mid-March, which was attended by over 600 people, his daughter Kimberly Nock said: “While he was being handcuffed, he looked my sisters and me in the eyes. At that moment he broke inside. So broken that later not even an acquittal could give him hope.”
