The Dane set the milestone already after 37 seconds of play at Kenilworth Road. Up front, Højlund took advantage of a huge Luton roar, and six minutes later the same man doubled United’s lead by chesting in a finish from Alejandro Garnacho.

Until Sunday, Joe Willocks was the youngest in PL history to find the back of the net in six consecutive games. He did it for Newcastle at the age of 21 years and 272 days. Højlund lowered the record by 258 days.

Manchester United drove Luton hard in the opening, but as so often before, the team lost their grip after a cheap late goal. Carlton Morris scored 1-2, and for the next half hour it was the hosts who dictated the match.

The away team often found themselves in trouble and conceded several free kicks. Just before the break, United’s left-back Luke Shaw disappeared, and in the break Harry Maguire and Casemiro were also taken off.

Shaw was uncertain before the game, and he did not seem quite sharp in the innings he played.

After the break, Manchester United gained better control and created many counterattacking opportunities. Among other things, Højlund got a great chance to get his first hat-trick in England.

United have won four straight in the league and are putting pressure on Tottenham and Aston Villa in front of them in the table. The top six in the league is now three points behind the former.

Luton are fourth last and are one point above the relegation zone.
