RCD Mallorca managed to take the victory (1-0) at home against UD Las Palmas thanks to a solitary goal from Gio González.
Mallorca started the match with high intensity and personality, taking the initiative and entering the area from the first moments. The attempts have been accumulating until half an hour into the game, a center from Jaume Costa passed through the Canary Islands area until it reached Gio’s position. The Uruguayan did not think about it and impaled it first to beat the visitors’ goal. It seemed that Vedat Muriqi had touched the ball last, but the goal was finally awarded to the Mallorcan number 20.
Javier Aguirre’s team had a very complete first half and, in addition to taking the lead, they did not suffer in defense. In this way, we reached half-time with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, the forces have become more balanced. Las Palmas took a step forward in search of an equalizer and came close in the 60th minute, but Predrag Rajković was excellent against a very dangerous shot from the edge of the area. With the changes introduced by Aguirre, Mallorca has improved in terms of control of the match. The Mallorcans have tried to break the lead, although without success. In defense, the defense has prevailed over the Canary Islands attack in most actions.
Consequently, in the 94th minute, the referee Martínez Munuera declared the end of the match with the 1-0 in favor of Mallorca showing on the scoreboard.
