Ranking FIFA Indonesia has continued to improve since Shin Tae Yong officially become a coach. The following is a recap of Indonesia’s FIFA ranking under Shin Tae Yong.

Since being officially appointed as coach of the Indonesian National Team in December 2019, Shin Tae Yong’s journey to elevate Indonesia in the FIFA rankings has not been easy.

When STY officially became the national team coach, Indonesia was in 173rd position in the FIFA rankings. Indonesia’s worst position in the FIFA ranking while Shin Tae Yong was coaching occurred in September 2021. At that time Indonesia was in 175th position in the FIFA ranking.

However, after that Indonesia’s position rose sharply in the FIFA rankings. Indonesia immediately rose ten places in the October 2021 FIFA rankings and was in 165th position. This result was the result of two wins over Taiwan in the 2023 Asian Cup qualifying playoffs.

Since then, Indonesia’s position in the FIFA rankings has slowly continued to rise. Indonesia starts 2022 in 160th place in the world. Indonesia’s FIFA ranking at the end of 2022 is 151.

Throughout 2023, Indonesia’s FIFA ranking will also continue to climb. After closing the year at 146th in the FIFA rankings, Indonesia then rose to 142nd in the world in February 2024 after the 2023 Asian Cup.

Now based on the latest FIFA ranking data, Thursday (4/4), Indonesia is in 134th position in the world. The increase of eight positions is the result of two wins over Vietnam in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

“We should be grateful for this result. Thank God for this achievement. Thank you to all parties who have supported us so that the Indonesian National Team can be like it is now. Hopefully in the future it will continue to be better. Appreciate the teams involved and also work harder so that they can continue to rise in the rankings ,” said PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir.
