Oliveira Andrade was fired from RecordTV

Oliveira Andrade, a historic narrator on Brazilian television, was fired this Friday (26) from RecordTV, after narrating just two matches of the Championship Paulista. At 73 years old, the professional had been in Barra Funda for just over a month.
According to Gabriel Vaquer and Anahi Martinho, from F5, the São Paulo broadcaster’s internal justification is that the public would not be satisfied with Andrade’s narration, who was paired with commentator Walter Casagrande Junior, in the matches between Corinthians x Guarani and Palmeiras x Inter from Limeira.
Oliveira Andrade’s replacement is well known to the public: Lucas Pereira was Record’s narrator throughout the 2023 Paulista Championship. Interestingly, Pereira was also suddenly replaced: on that occasion, he had to give up his position in the broadcast of the tournament final to Cléber Machado , recently released from Globo.
It is worth remembering that Silvio Luiz, in partnership with Bola and Carioca, remains on the exclusive broadcast team via Portal R7.
The broadcaster confirms the decision, but does not mention the reasons, in an official note. “Starting this Sunday, all Paulistão 2024 matches will be narrated by Lucas Pereira. We appreciate the partnership with Oliveira Andrade at the beginning of the Championship”, says the statement.
Oliveira Andrade has been a sports narrator since the 1980s. He has worked for Band (where he spent the longest time, including at BandSports), Globo, Record, Rádio Jovem Pan and ConmebolTV. His last job, at Band, involved broadcasting the Saudi Championship.
Lucas Pereira will debut next Sunday (28), in the classic between Santos and Palmeiras, at 6pm.
