Five years have passed since the death of Giulio Regeni and in the bunker hall of the Rebibbia Roman prison, the trial of four senior Egyptian intelligence officers accused of his kidnapping, torture and murder will begin in front of the third section of the Court of Assize. The murder of Giulio Regeni, in these five years, thanks to the resilience, courage and dignity of a family and its lawyer, to the work of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rome, the Sco and the Ros of police and carabinieri, has become a story of international echo. And the process that opens will be the first moment of public “truth and justice”. For this reason Republic, in continuity with its permanent journalistic campaign, for the same reasons and with the same spirit, it will allow all its readers to follow the entire debate in full. In fact, on our site we will offer the images and full audio of what happened in the courtroom at each hearing. The recordings – by decision of the Court – will be transmitted on our site at the end of each hearing and will in any case remain available in a digital “library” which will function as an archive and where they can be consulted at any time as the hearings go on.
