The Criminal Investigation Unit (Sat Reskrim) of the Belawan Harbor Police succeeded in arresting the perpetrator of the theft of a metal container trailer lock whose video of the incident was uploaded on social media. This arrest was revealed by the Belawan Harbor Police Chief AKBP Janton Silaban, SH., SIK., MKP., through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Inspector Riffi Noor Faizal, STRK., SIK.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Inspector Riffi Noor Faizal explained that the arrest of the perpetrator, known as Iyan alias Gondrong (42), began with the findings of the Belawan Harbor Police social media patrol team. The video of the theft shows the perpetrator taking the iron lock of a container trailer on Jalan Raya Harbor.
“Together with the precision patrol team from the Belawan Harbor Police and Belawan Police, we immediately went to the location to carry out further investigations. “After receiving information that the perpetrator of the theft in the video was Iyan, we gave chase and succeeded in arresting him,” said Inspector Riffi Noor Faizal.
From the results of the interrogation, the suspect Iyan admitted his actions in the theft. Apart from that, the urine test carried out on the perpetrator also showed positive results for drug use.
“We continue to strive to eradicate crime in the jurisdiction of the Belawan Harbor Police. “Support and cooperation from the community is very important in maintaining security and order,” said AKBP Janton Silaban.
The suspect Iyan alias Gondrong will face legal proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations. The police will also continue to carry out further investigations to uncover the possibility of the perpetrator’s involvement in other crimes.
