The London club confirms this via its platforms on Monday afternoon.
– This club is very special and has been a big part of my football life. I understand that the club must think ahead at this time, and therefore I have decided to step aside, says Hodgson in a statement.
Hodgson’s departure was confirmed on Monday after a string of poor results. A few hours later, the club announced that Glasner was taking over.
Glasner was last manager at German Eintracht Frankfurt, where he finished last summer. He led the club to victory in the Europa League in 21/22, then with Jens Petter Hauge in the team.
In Monday’s game against Everton, however, it is Ray Lewington and Paddy McCarthy who lead the team.
There have been rumors that Hodgson was set to be sacked at Palace last week, but then he fell ill in training and was later admitted to hospital. Now the club writes that Hodgson has decided “to retire” from the job.

Hodgson has been manager at Crystal Palace over two periods. First between 2017 and 2021, and then he came back in last season as a rescuer. This season, however, it has been a troubled season for the 76-year-old and his team.
Before Monday’s meeting with Everton, Palace are in 16th place in the Premier League with 24 points from 24 games.
Hodgson has had a number of coaching jobs throughout his career and has, among other things, managed clubs such as Inter, Blackburn, FC Copenhagen, Viking, Fulham and Liverpool. Between 2012 and 2016 he was national team coach for England.
