[NTDTV, Beijing, March 07, 2022]The Russian invasion of Ukraine has entered its second week. The two sides recently released the latest data on the war situation. The Ukrainian military said that more than 11,000 Russian soldiers had been killed in action.
Russia has launched heavy bombings on several Ukrainian cities in recent days, and Ukrainian soldiers have responded with anti-tank missiles and other weapons, destroying Russian tanks and fighter jets.
The Ukrainian General Staff issued a statement on March 6 saying that so far, more than 11,000 Russian soldiers have been killed, destroying 44 Russian aircraft, 48 helicopters, 285 tanks, 985 armored vehicles, 109 artillery systems, 447 cars, 4 drones.
The statement did not report casualties among Ukrainian soldiers.
Russian News Agency reported on March 6 that Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said at a briefing that since the start of the war, “2,119 military infrastructures in Ukraine have been destroyed, including 74 command and communication centers, 108 air defenses. Missile systems S-300, Buk M-1, Osa and 68 radar stations”.
Konashenkov added that 69 Ukrainian warplanes were destroyed on the ground, 21 were shot down in the air, 748 tanks and armored vehicles, 76 multiple rocket launchers, 274 artillery and mortars, 532 special military vehicles and 59 drones were destroyed.
Russia has not reported the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed. During the war, the figures released by both sides could not be independently verified by NTDTV.
CNN reported on March 7 that since Russia invaded Ukraine, the Russian military has launched 600 missiles and devoted 95 percent of its combat power to Ukraine, a senior U.S. defense official said.
The official said the United States observed that fighting continued in Kherson and Nikolayev on the 7th, and that Russian troops were still trying to encircle Kyiv, Hashev and Chernihiv, as well as Mariupol.
Meanwhile, a convoy of Russian military vehicles about 40 miles (64 kilometers) long north of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, remained stalled, but there was no update on how far it was. Late last week, it was about 25 kilometers from the center of Kyiv.
