Russia, here is the survey on the offensive in Ukraine that the Kremlin did not want to disclose

MOSCA – The question was the following: “Some people believe that Russian military activity in Ukraine should be terminated as soon as possible. Others believe that it is not yet time to end it. Which opinion do you agree with most, the first or the second? “. The poll commissioned in late June by the Russian presidential administration at the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (Vtsiom) was never released to the public, but was released by the Russian-language site based in Riga Medusa.

They obviously didn’t like the answers. Thirty percent of Russians replied that the so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine should “end as soon as possible”, 13 percent that it was difficult to answer, while 57 percent that it should continue. A sign that the Russian population is starting to get tired of the protracted offensive.

The percentages are even more unfavorable for the Kremlin if the age group between 18 and 24 is taken into account. In this case, 56 percent ask for an end to the offensive, while 19 percent support its continuation against respectively 43 percent and 41 percent among those interviewed between 25 and 34 years. The over-60s are the most tenacious supporters of the operation: at least 72 per cent are asking for it to continue.

Differences are also noted between “active Internet users”, those most immune to state propaganda, with 47 per cent for the end of the offensive and 35 per cent for its continuation, while among the viewers the proportions are reversed: only 22 per cent advocate an end to military activities against 68 per cent in favor of an extension.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, 48 percent are in favor of the end of the operation, a percentage that in other metropolises with populations over one million rises to 62 percent.

These are “predictable” results, commented the sociologist Grigorij Judinin line with other surveys that had noted greater support for the offensive among the elderly and residents of large cities, but which deviate from the latest poll released to the public by Vtsiom last June.

Of course, the question was different. At the time, the Russians were asked if they supported the operation and 72 percent replied that they were “inclined to support it”, while 17 percent replied the opposite with 11 percent unable to respond.
