Russian ambassador Razov: “Putin wrote a message of congratulations to Mattarella for the Republic Day”

Russian President Vladimir Putin “congratulated the Italian President” on Republic Day. The Russian ambassador to Italy Sergey Razov said in an interview with LaPresse. «In all these years my wife and I have attended with great pleasure the solemn reception of the President of the Italian Republic on the occasion of the National Day with performances by excellent musical groups. Nothing to do – politics is politics, ”said Razov, commenting on Mattarella’s failure to invite him to the concert on 2 June.

The Quirinale, reached by LaPresse, confirms the news. “It is – they explain to the press office – one of the many written messages that arrive every year for the Republic Day from foreign heads of state”. When asked if Mattarella will respond to Putin, the same sources explain: «It is not customary to respond to this type of message. It is not done and it has never been done for anyone ».
