The British Home Office has expelled a Russian defense attaché because he was in fact an “undeclared military intelligence officer”. This is a measure due to the “reckless and dangerous activities of the Russian government throughout Europe”, specified James Cleverly when speaking in the Commons. The minister also illustrated other measures.
“We will remove the status of diplomatic posts from several Russian properties in the UK, including Seacocks House, a Russian property in Sussex and the defense and trade section at Highgate, which we believe have been used for intelligence purposes. And we are imposing new restrictions on Russian diplomatic visas, including a limit on the length of time Russian diplomats can spend in the UK – he added, concluding with a clear message to Russia: “Stop this illegal war. Withdraw your troops from Ukraine. Cease this evil activity.”
