Miroslav Stevanovic brings Servette back into the game against Lugano
Keystone
Servette is behind for a long time against Lugano, but thanks to two late goals, they still get the home win. Thanks to the 2:1, the gap to leader YB remains at seven points.
Miroslav Stevanovic was a joy to watch. In the 83rd minute he did what he hadn’t managed since September 30th last year: he scored a goal. And this one was particularly important. For a long time it looked as if Geneva would suffer its second defeat in a row. Although they had been running incessantly since Hadj Mahmoud conceded a goal in the 12th minute, they had little success offensively.
The turning point was the direct red card that Anto Grgic saw in the 75th minute for a serious foul. With one more player, Geneva were able to increase the pressure again and even scored a second goal after Stevanovic’s equalizer. Jérémy Guillemenot was fouled in the penalty area and Bendeguz Bolla used the penalty to make it 2-1.
It was Servette’s first win against Lugano in the tenth Super League home game. Before that, they had lost once and drawn eight times.
