However, the Norwegian team has 12 podium places after 43 races have been run. 8 are 2nd places, while 4 of them are 3rd places.

– That is the sickest thing I have ever experienced. To reach the finish line and see green numbers with good management… The feelings I had in my body then were indescribable, says Haugan to TV 2.

The 27-year-old also revealed to the licensee that he was going to end the evening at Europe’s largest après ski, which can be found in Schladming.

– I have to go for a walk. I said I would go up if there was a podium, so now I have to deliver, he says.

Haugan finished 28 hundredths behind German Linus Strasser, who won his second straight slalom race.

– He is in crazy shape. It’s easy for him during the day, commented Leif Kristian Nestvold-Haugen on TV 2.

– Something extra

The German also led by one-tenth of a second on the Oppdal boy after the first lap, but when Haugan drove into a lead of 74 hundredths down to Clément Noël, the commentators took the victory a little too early in advance.

– We set the standard for that. I refuse to believe that Linus will be able to take that, commented Nestvold-Haugen.

2nd place is Haugan’s third in his career. The previous two came in Chamonix in 2020 and Palisades Tahoe in 2023.

– To get a podium place here is something extra. It is something other than the Palisades and Chamonix. Damn it, this was fat, says Haugan.

McGrath drove out

Henrik Kristoffersen became the second best Norwegian when he climbed to 6th place, while Alexander Steen Olsen fell two places to 11th place.

Sebastian Foss-Solevåg got on with a cry of distress from the first lap, but climbed nine places and eventually finished in number 21. Atle Lie McGrath drove out.

The next slalom race will be run in Chamonix on 4 February.
