Rest in peace, teacher Terezinha Rêgo!
SINDEDUCAÇÃO – Union of Teaching Professionals of the Municipal Network of São Luís – is hereby publicly expressing UNRESTRICTED SOLIDARITY to the family, friends, and former students of professor Terezinha de Jesus Almeida Silva Rêgo, our Terezinha Rêgo.
It is difficult to imagine a house in Maranhão in which someone has not used “cabacinha” for respiratory diseases, perhaps the best known – but not the only – legacy of this woman scientist in the area of Health.
Terezinha Rêgo, woman, mother, teacher, scientist, former candidate for the Federal Senate, pharmacist, doctor in Botany, recognized worldwide and deservedly honored during her lifetime for her phytotherapeutic experiments at the forefront of research in this area when she was a professor at the Federal University of Maranhão, activity that he carried out brilliantly throughout his life.
It is also difficult to measure the enormous importance of Terezinha Rêgo for the areas in which she worked, but her example, especially for women, and even more so for us, educators, will never be forgotten.
At this moment, all of us at Sindeducação not only mourn, but express our gratitude for having been your contemporaries.
