Hundreds lined up to get an autograph on the notebooks with the champion’s logo: there were the Forum faithful who are always present in this week of the year, but also many young people, new tennis enthusiasts thanks to him. It was Sinner’s first public outing after the conference in which he explained the reasons that led him to give up the tournament he cared about most. Before the crowd he had entrusted his thoughts to social media: “It’s never a straight road. We’ll come back stronger”, he wrote, posting a photo of him with the sly look of someone preparing the rematch. It is a sign that the warrior is already ready to start again: recovery will be slow, but Jannik for Paris he really wants to try. And for this reason he will be back in Monte Carlo this afternoon. He will need a few days to organize himself before leaving for Turin. In fact, it is the facilities of J Medical, the Juventus medical center, that the phenomenon should rely on. Matteo Berrettini had also carried out tests in the past at the Juventus clinic which took care of, among others, Cristiano Ronaldo during his time in Turin. It is not yet clear how long Sinner will stay in Piedmont. Hip injury requires rehabilitation even in water, so as not to overload the joint, and a gym to carry out exercises and keep fit: services that only an excellent structure for athletes is able to provide. Physiotherapy will be carried out by Giacomo Naldi, who treated Sinner’s ankle at the time of Sofia’s injury at the end of 2022.

In the press conference at the Foro Italico, Sinner had referred to the possibility of skipping Roland Garros if necessary, in order not to risk greater damage to the hip: “If a longer period of rest is needed, I will observe it – he said – In Paris I will only go if I am one hundred percent physically because I don’t want to shorten my career just to do one more tournament.” His words were alarming, also the result of the emotion of the moment and the burning disappointment of not being able to play the home match. Perhaps Jannik felt “guilty” for not being able to give himself fully to those who were waiting for him and he put his hands on for fear of giving false illusions. The next few days will be decisive in understanding whether the world number 2 will decide to leave for Paris. If the treatments have the desired effects, Sinner could decide to fly to France in a couple of weeks and give it a try. Whatever happens, Italy will be on his side.
