The Planet of the Apes saga continues with the fourth film entitled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. This latest film was released about seven years after War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a separate sequel to the first three films, so it no longer features Caesar (Andy Serkis) as the main character.

The story of this film is set approximately 300 years after the events of the War for the Planet of the Apes. The ape civilization on Earth emerged as the species’ intelligence continued to increase.
The number of monkeys who can speak is increasing in number and fluency, as is sign language which is still the main language of communication. Monkeys spread across the world also form their own clans.
However, the legacy and teachings of Caesar (Andy Serkis), who led the early days of ape civilization, are starting to fade due to various changes over hundreds of years, leaving only a handful who still maintain the principles and thoughts of the legendary apes.

Meanwhile, humans experience a decline in cognitive abilities due to the simian flu outbreak. Human intelligence declines until it becomes wild, primitive, and no longer even able to speak.
The story then shows the lives of three young monkeys named Noa (Owen Teague), Soona (Lydia Peckham), and Anaya (Travis Jeffrey). They lived with one of the monkey clans called the eagle clan.
The lives of the three monkeys initially went well, until they accidentally met a mysterious woman while looking for eagle eggs for a clan ritual.
This meeting was the beginning of Noa’s journey with the young woman who turned out to be Mae (Freya Allen). He is quite different from other humans encountered by apes because he can still speak and think normally.
Mae’s existence then brought disaster to the eagle clan. He is being hunted by Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand), the monkey king and leader of a coastal monkey clan whose ambition is to seek human technology.
Proximus Caesar then ordered his troops to capture all the ape clans to enslave them. This situation also encourages Noa to save his clan, while Mae joins in on a personal, enigmatic mission.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by Josh Friedman. Ball is known as the director who worked on the Maze Runner trilogy.
This film stars a series of new actors playing ape and human characters, starting from Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is in cinemas starting May 8, 2024.
